Dan’s latest short film All That Glitters starring Sophia Myles and Alec Newman had its theatrical World Premiere this week at the BAFTA, OSCAR and BIFA qualifying Foyle Film Festival in Northern Ireland where it competed in its world renowned “Light in Motion” awards for “Best International Short Film”.

The ambitious self-funded drama fantasy about domestic violence tells the story of a desperate teenager who snatches a rich woman’s handbag, but in a bizarre twist of fate discovers that her life is not as rosy as it seems and that they have more in common than he realizes.

The film won second prize (first runner up) and Dan accepted the award in person at at the Brunswick Moviebowl closing night ceremony after attending a jam-packed week of films in the city. “I’m delighted that the film has been recognised at such a prestigious event and has received this accolade on its first theatrical screening,” said Dan, “This is also my first live in person event since the pandemic restrictions have been lifted so it was great to be back in the cinema again.”

Foyle Film Festival is one of only a handful of International festivals with Oscar® affiliation, BAFTA and BIFA recognition. The Festival is a flagship project of Nerve Centre, Northern Ireland’s leading creative media arts centre which delivers a diverse range of cutting edge projects, training and production opportunities, state of the art production facilities and creative learning centres in Belfast and Derry-Londonderry.
